# Your household's account

> Invite the family, share the TVs, and switch between accounts.

An account is a household, or an organization. Whoever creates it, with an invite from Readout, is its
**owner**. Everyone in it shares its TVs, home agents, lights and TV schedule.

## Invite someone

The owner invites others from **Menu → Account**:

* **Invite with a link** shows a link to send however you like.
* **Invite by text**, on a phone or tablet, opens Messages with the link written in, to send from
  your own number.
* **Invite by email** sends it to the email you type. Only that email can use it.

An invite works once, for a week. Whoever joins becomes a member of your account.

## What the owner can do

* give a member a new password, if they forget theirs
* remove someone from the account
* turn on silent [drop-ins](https://docs.readout.tv/home/video-calls.md) for a TV
* see everyone's sign-ins in [Activity](https://docs.readout.tv/account/activity-and-notifications.md), and every meeting
  transcript

## More than one account

Someone in two households' accounts signs in once, and each device chooses which it's in: switch
from the top bar, or from **Menu → Account**.

## Usage

**Menu → Account** shows how much of the account's daily captions have been used.
